I found the end of my last chapter yesterday through my own blood, sweat, and tears... and I have to say this second book has been a long, emotional, and hair pulling experience. When the first book was published, I had the second book near completion. I knew exactly where I wanted the story to go, what I wanted to see happen to my characters, how I was going to bring them all to Earth and what would happen once they came to Earth. Now, even though my plans on leading them from TERAH to Earth has not changed, the journey in getting them there has.... Once the first book entered edits, I knew the second book was going to change, although I'll admit, I didn't realize how much. Once I went back to work on Book II, well something just nagged at me. Am I being too predictable? Am I? Am I mucking with my characters enough? A little, but I could do more, couldn't I? Am I being true to my imagination? No, something doesn't feel right. In my strict Virgo opinion, I wasn't doing Samanthra or Dareus justice. So I ripped up the second book, pulled my hair for a few days, for a few months, and then started from scratch. So I went down the list again... Now am I being too predictable? No way. Now am I mucking with my characters enough? Totally and then some. Am I being true to my imagination? Oh yeah and then some. For those who kept emailing me wanting to know when the second book was coming out...it will be soon. And for those who reviewed the book or just read it, becoming obsessed with the entire ride, I think you will be pleased or at least I hope so. If you thought you knew what would happen in round two...don't stake the bank on it. Don't plan the night on the Epilogue...because I did a complete 180---hell, I ran completely off the trail and did donuts. As I said above, I finished up the last chapter yesterday, but I plan on taking the next month (next few if need be) to put some finishing touches on the manuscript, apply pre-edits I learned from Noble Romance Publishing, and then off to my publisher: Dark Roast Press it will go. Will I give anyone a hint as to what lies ahead? No, not yet. I want to make sure I can write up a blurb that will give you just enough...yet not give anything away. I want this journey to be to remain completely unexpected and as a surprise for the reader. I will tell you this, the Sacrifice will lead us to Earth at this point in time...not unless I end up doing the same thing in Book III--asking myself the same questions or letting my imagination do another 180. Never-the-less, we will get there...eventually...but I can promise you we won't have a boring moment until we do...or at least that's my hope. |
